Extensive details are provided in the on-line help. Without exception all rights to Soccer ScoreSheet belong in perpetuity to the authors. Note: This document and contents and all other references shall at all times be subject to being superceded by a later version. At all times the latest version of this application made publicly available by the authors shall take precedence, immediately cancelling and replacing all earlier versions and extents. Please contact the authors to clarify and obtain the latest version. Overview ======== 'Soccer ScoreSheet' is a Microsoft Windows(r) application for the management of soccer league data. It also comes complete with many features to assist football pools enthusiasts and syndicates. All features are highly user-customisable to suit any soccer league or competition arrangement, at professional, amateur, world-wide, regional and local levels of the sport. If you evaluate this software and decide that it is not what you want because it lacks a feature that you would really like to see, please tell us - we may be able to help! In the past many good ideas which have been implemented have come directly from user feedback - sometimes those ideas are turned around in just a day or two, to the surprise of our users! About Shareware =============== Many potential users provide shareware with a less than desirable reputation, inferring that the quality of such software is always below an acceptable standard. Doubtless there is software being distributed as shareware that gives the concept such a bad reputation, however we believe you will quickly find with this application that it is of the highest quality. We sincerely believe in providing both the best product AND the best support possible to all of our users! Target Audience =============== The target audience for this application falls into two main categories: * Those who have a regular need to manage and keep soccer league statistical information up to date. For example league coordinators, club secretaries, or private individuals who keep their own statistics. * Those who regularly submit entries to football pools competitions who need instant access to team form and past history. This would also include pools syndicates. Major Features - League Management ================================== * Highly user-configurable league management. Suitable for professional or amateur league and/or competition systems (currently known to be in use with several UK league clubs and organisations). * Automatic league table generation from results entered, with user-defined team sorting. * Automatic match schedule generation for a complete season. * Multiple user-configurable match categories to allow user to keep track of league and non-league matches. * Instant access to team fixture history. * Automatic generation of divisional home/away results and home/away dates tables, as presented by popular magazines and books. * Team statistic information is multi-page. Each page is user-configurable as to statistical data presented. * Division sorting algorithm is user-configurable. * Team position and/or position change shown on a weekly basis - user can define which day of the week to use for positioning purposes. * Hardcopy printed reports. Plus auto-copy detail to Windows clipboard or external text file for sharing with other applications. * SDF, copy to clipboard or external text file Import/export facilities provided, for sharing data with other applications. * Colour representation is user-configurable. * User can set individual team colour representation, thus allowing particular teams to be immediately identified in a visual context when viewing divisions etc. * User can set division colours, enabling matches played between teams belonging to different divisions to be immediately identifiable via the Fixtures Dialog. Major Features - Pools Prediction ================================= Note: Many users do not make use of the prediction features because they have no need of these for their own requirements. The prediction features are supplemental to the league management features. The authors do not intend to misrepresent the capabilities of this application. Whilst the use of this application MAY increase the chances of winning on football pools competitions, the authors do not make any such claim. No computer program can be expected to reliably, consistently and accurately predict the outcomes of any sporting event prior to it having taken place. The user must use their own judgement with regard to whether this software can help with predicting results. * Multiple user-configurable prediction algorithms to suggest most likely result of matches yet to be played. Each algorithm is based wholly on statistical comparison of pertinent home/away team data. * Multiple perm support, allowing user to configure multi-column perm arrangements and compare different perms across time. * Automatic data-update subscription service for registered users (primarily for users with Email facilities). * Significant use of colour representation for prediction purposes. Colours are user-definable. * Graphical analysis of predicted vs actual results. User can define result types (home, away, draw etc.), and date range. * Automatic pools-points accumulation and presentation (points awarded for results types are user-configurable). * Graphical analysis of HOT and COLD pools coupon numbers, based upon actual results achieved on the pools coupon over time. * Automatic pools coupon population based upon users defined perm and prediction arrangement. * Calendar functions are colour-coded to give immediate visual feedback to the user about which fixture dates still have outstanding results etc. Target Platforms ================ Soccer ScoreSheet is provided as standard with two separate runtime executables, one a 16-bit application, the other a true 32-bit application. These executables target the following operating systems: * Microsoft Windows 3.x * Microsoft Windows 95/NT The data (and other support) files used by this application are 100% compatible between these versions, allowing a user to migrate between versions at any time without loss of data. Environmental Requirements ========================== For MS Windows 3.x a 386 PC (or better). Recommended 8 megabytes RAM, and a 66MHz PC or better (will run on a minimally configured PC). For MS Windows 95 a 386 PC (or better). Recommended 16 megabytes RAM, and a 66MHz PC or better. All installations require a minimum of 2 megabytes of hard disk space (not supported when run from a diskette or other removable media). Licensing ========= Soccer ScoreSheet is released under the shareware concept (the author is a member of the Association of Shareware Professionals). The shareware version is fully functional and virtually unlimited for 30 days or 30 hours of cumulative use to allow the user to fully evaluate the software. On completion of the evaluation period the software will still operate, with some non-critical functionality becoming non-operational. Such functionality will be restored on registration. During the evaluation period the user is provided with the right to use the software for evaluation purposes, without obligation to obtain a license. However, once the evaluation period is over (30 days from installation or 30 hours use), this right is automatically revoked. Licensing is provided on a named-individual basis only to help prevent possible fraud/illegal distribution. Registration will NOT be carried out in the name of a club or other organisation. The user is REQUIRED to obtain a license from the authors to allow continued use of the software on completion of the evaluation period, by payment of the requested fee (see the on-line help under 'Registration' for further information, from where a registration form can be printed). Acceptance of the registration fee by the authors will provide the user with the non-transferrable, non-exclusive and revokable permission to continue using this software, and both the user and authors shall be bound to the terms and conditions as expressed in the LATEST PUBLICLY AVAILABLE VERSION. WITHOUT EXCEPTION all rights to Soccer ScoreSheet and its extents, including but not limited to copyright and intellectual rights, belong to the authors in perpetuity - payment for registering this software does not under any circumstance transfer these rights. Licensing is provided on a single-user basis only. Full details and terms and conditions are contained within the on-line help under 'Registration'. Failure to obtain a license from the authors on completion of the evaluation period, or attempting to extend the evaluation period using methods not supported by the authors renders further use of the software an illegal activity on the part of the user. Such activity will be subject to legal action if considered appropriate by the authors. Warranty ======== Installation and/or use of this software is entirely at the users own risk. With the sole exception of defective media (which shall be replaced without charge if notified within 15 days of shipment) THERE IS NO WARRANTY PROVIDED WITH THIS SOFTWARE. Any and all harmful and/or unexpected side effects of installing and/or using this software will be the sole responsibility of the person undertaking the installation and/or use. Under no circumstance can the authors be held liable for consequential effects of installing/using this software. Any claims for damages and/or harmful effects shall be limited to the maximum of a single registration fee. USE THIS SOFTWARE ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK! Registration Options ==================== The user may choose from a number of options to facilitate registration. These options are explained in detail within the on-line help provided with the application (see under 'Registration'). Registration may be performed via the Registration Dialog which is made available immediately upon startup of the application. Options include cheque, cash and credit card. On-line transactions can be carried out via an arrangement undertaken with the Public (software) Library. Registration Benefits ===================== * Latest version on a diskette, includes both Win3.x and Win95 versions. * The most up to date UK league tables the authors have available. * Personalised copy of the application, via user name/unique serial number. This will allow the user to personalise all future version 8's that may be released (this may roll over to version 9 or beyond at the discretion of the authors). * Database updates for users with Email facilities are available. This is a low-cost SUBSCRIPTION service (please contact the authors to request further details as it requires the purchase of an additional utility to support this arrangement). * Free technical support from the authors (minimum of six months or until the next major release, whichever comes sooner). * The registered version will automatically populate the next season detail at the end of a season, copying across all relevant information from the previous season to the next. * Registered version loads from/saves to an unlimited number of data files. * An optional pack of utility software is available to work with the registered version of Soccer ScoreSheet. Utilities include a data importer to allow the database to be updated automatically from the SoccerSlot subscription service, plus a web page creation utility which will automatically publish web pages of your own design at the click of a button. * A subscription service is available to allow us to send you monthly database updates on diskette. This service will also provide any new version of Soccer ScoreSheet that may be released. Support ======= Technical support from the authors is available to all users. For registered users this support shall be a minimum of six months from the date of registration, or until the next major release. For non-registered users this support shall apply only to the evaluation period of the software (thus, maximum 30 days from first installation). Priority will be given to registered users at all times. The authors will always provide their best efforts to resolve problems and/or bugs in a timely manner.
